Ever wished you had a personal genie to give you self care tips for mental health to be better?
One who could grant you some of these deepest insights?
Well, guess what? You do!
Me?
No!
It’s your own incredible potential!
There was an age when humans lived for more than 11,000 years!
And would you believe me if I said they knew that they wouldn’t die before completing their years?
If that was the case today, we would have planned more for the future than living in the present.
In recent times, it’s every day that matters. Every minute that counts.
Because you do not know what happens the next moment.
Why am I saying all this?
Because there’s worry, stress, and troubles surrounding us, impacting our mental health.
And do you know how can you create a better world around you?
By taking care of yourself. In all aspects. In this blog, I am your self care coach.
Let’s figure out whether self care truly improves our mental health, and if yes, then how with the best self care tips for mental health.
Understanding what Self Care is exactly
The theoretical definition of self care is something that you’ll find a lot of articles discussing. Infact, I have also written an insightful blog on what it means exactly.
You can read it here: What is Self Care
But in this blog what I’m trying to clarify is a myth that most of us believe in.
When you ask people how do they take care of yourself, you’ll find majority of the answers to be around
- I follow a daily skin care routine
- I sleep on time
- I eat good food
- I avoid junk
- I don’t smoke or drink
- I switch off my phone before sleeping.
But do you realize what most people are missing out here?
Imagine asking a person how do you take care of your spouse and getting answers like:
- I call her every day
- I return back home on time
- I eat with her
- I avoid fights most of the time
- I don’t beat or abuse
- I make sure to spend time with her before sleeping.
Sometimes it might look like a green flag, but do you realise that this was supposed to be a normal flag?
Just some basic etiquette that a relationship must have.
Taking care of each other happens involuntarily because you love treating them special.
Similar is taking care of self.
Seeing them smile and at ease.
So when we ask someone how they take care of their spouse, their answers should be something special like:
- I talk to her mom almost everyday while she talks to mine
- I go home with one small thing he/she might love. ( A rose, street food, a big warm hug, etc)
- I cook dinner for him when he’s late, and vice versa
- I try to be more understanding when my partner is going through a rough patch.
- I don’t argue, instead ask, communicate, and understand.
- I try to set the bed for her, since she’s a clean freak, and vice versa again.
These weren’t a clear-cut comparison to what should have been and what generally happens nowadays.
What I want to justify is living some necessity in a bond is not what you count as a wow! It’s a bare minimum that should be done.
Not in a compulsion.
Taking care of your bond is something that couples want to do. Because they love specially treating each other.
Similar is taking care of yourself.
Self care is not giving what you need. It is loving yourself more than you ever thought of!

In fact, a recent Vagaro Survey mentioned, “While self-care can mean different things to different people, American respondents cited at-home spa rituals (47%), visiting a spa for wellness treatments (41%), getting a manicure/pedicure (36%) and getting a haircut (34%) as the top self-care activities that come to mind.”
And it’s not that they restrict themselves to these self care practices because it is helping them out.
They are willing to try new things in life if it helps them in making them better.
The same survey suggests, “One-third of Americans would be willing to move (35%), sell a personal belonging (33%) or even give up their favorite food (30%) for more self-care time.”
It’s just that most of them are unaware of the luxurious self care habits that can be built for a prosperous life.
Now you know why the self care tips for mental health become important.
And that’s where my self care coaching program comes into the motivation of bridging the gap.
From tomorrow, try implementing these ideas:
